Wellington Phoenix are looking for a new striker after top scorer Ifeanyi Eze left the A-League side to pursue options outside the league. Eze, who scored 10 goals for the Phoenix last season, has decided to leave the Wellington-based side. The Nigerian forward shared the men's player of the year award with captain Alex Rufer. Phoenix director of football Shaun Gill said Eze has left a lasting impact on the club. Eze expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff, teammates, and fans for their support during his time with the Phoenix. The Wellington Phoenix currently have 15 men's players contracted for the 2026-27 A-League season.
